Make delicious salmon on the Blackstone griddle with this easy recipe!
Salmon has been one of my go-to meals for a long time.
Ever since I was little, I remember my parents baking salmon with slices of lemon and onion and a sprinkle of herbs on top.

We would always pair it with brown rice and a green vegetable like asparagus.
YUM.
Now, one of my absolute favorite ways is to air fry it.

Now that the weather is warmer we try to cook most of our meals outside either on our Weber Grill or our Blackstone Griddle.
Which Blackstone Griddle Do I Use?
There are tons of Blackstone Griddle options out there.
We chose the Blackstone 36″ Culinary Omnivore Griddle with Hood 4-Burner Liquid Propane Flat Top Grill.

The reason for this is because of the construction of the plate and how it retains heat longer and distributes it more evenly.
This one requires less BTUs aka less energy used aka less propane to maintain those high temperatures and doesn’t compromise the cooking power. In the long run, you save money!
There are tons of accessories you can get for your Blackstone and we have a ton of them that we got from here.
What Type of Salmon Should I Get?
This is where I get kind of picky.
I like to use Copper River Salmon which is wild salmon harvested from Alaska’s Copper River.

Every year in May through September three types of salmon (King, Sockeye, and Coho) return to the Copper River to make a 300 mile journey to spawn in their birthplace.
Each fish is caught by a small fleet of independent fishermen and they are picked out from the net and treated with respect and care.

Their salmon is a deep red color and contains tons of flavor.
Isn’t this sockeye just gorgeous?

Ingredients You Need for Salmon on the Blackstone
Let me tell you the exact ingredients I used to cook this amazing salmon.
First, you need the salmon of your choice.
As I mentioned earlier, I used a sockeye salmon from Copper River Salmon.

Since we are still in March, the salmon fillet I got was flash frozen. Don’t worry! It tastes just delicious as fresh.
Read more about their high-quality frozen salmon.
Then, we used just a little bit of olive oil, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
I opted for a light and fresh flavor so we kept it simple with the spices.
Then it was time for cooking!
How to Cook Salmon on the Blackstone Griddle
First, heat your Blackstone up to medium-high and prep it for cooking.
Make sure your fish is seasoned and oiled on both sides before placing it on the griddle.
We placed the salmon closer to the edge of the griddle so it wouldn’t heat up too quickly and turn dry.

First, place it skin side down for two to three minutes and then flip and repeat until it is cooked though.
Let it rest for a few minutes, squeeze some lemon on and enjoy with some delicious sides.
How Do I Know When the Salmon is Done Cooking?
Salmon should be flaky with a slightly pinkish color in the middle.
However, if you are unsure, use an internal temperature and check to see if it hit around 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
If you like your salmon cooked more medium, it should read 125 degrees (which is what I prefer).

How to Keep Salmon from Sticking to the Blackstone?
First, make sure your salmon is oiled (we use olive oil).
Then, use two spatulas for this task.
Place one under the filet and use the other to quickly lift and flip the fish over.
It works like a charm!
What to Pair Salmon With?
I typically like to pair my salmon with rice.
Sometimes I do a brown rice but this time around I did wild rice.
Then, add some vegetables like asparagus, zucchini and squash, or broccoli.
Enjoy!
