Easter Peeps Dirt Cups, A Cute Easter Treat

Celebrate Easter with these Easter Peeps Dirt Cups! They are so cute and fun to make!

We are definitely a dirt cup household, the pudding, the toppings, delicious!

We typically make the regular dirt cups with the pudding, Oreo cookie crumbles, and the gummy worms.

However, recently, we have gone a little bit out of the box. My girls and I tried Beach Pudding Cups which are similar but uses vanilla pudding and golden Oreos.

So this time, we wanted to try something new and Easter Peeps Dirt Cups is where it’s at!

Before you move on, at the bottom of this recipe I did write out a few more fun and unique dirt cup desserts to try such as Halloween ones, Christmas ones, and even some Spring ones.

There are tons of different options when creating dirt cups so there is no need to stick with the standard one all the time (unless this is your favorite of course).

Why I Love this Easter Treat

This is such a great treat if you are having an Easter party, or just need something to do one evening.

Gather your kids and their friends, spread the ingredients around the table and let the kiddos have fun making their own Easter sweets.

What Ingredients Do You Need for Peeps Dirt Cups?

Making these dirt cups don’t take a lot of effort or time which is why I love making these. They look like a lot of work but you can be done in just a matter of minutes.

You will need a total of six things.

• Chocolate Pudding Mix (or premade pudding cups if you don’t have a lot of time or patience)
• Sweetened Coconut Flakes
• Green Food Dye
• Easter Sprinkles
• Jelly Beans
• Peeps

*It is optional to add Oreo cookie crumbles as well. It would probably taste super good but to be honest, we just didn’t have any Oreos in the house.

How to Make Easter Peeps Dirt Cups?

Now comes the fun part… making them!

First, make the chocolate pudding (or if already premade, skip this step).

When the pudding is ready, grab some short glasses and fill them up but leave space at the top for the toppings.

Next, fill a separate bowl up with some coconut flakes.

Add in a drop or two of the green food coloring and mix until it is completely green.

This will be the grass, so fun!

Fill up the pudding cups with the coconut grass until almost to the top.

Again, if opting to use Oreo cookie crumbs, add that part in before the coconut to create that yummy crunchy layer.

It’s already starting to look so good!

Also grab some jelly beans.

Sprinkle the top of the Peeps Dirt Cups with the sprinkles and jelly beans for that adorable Easter look.

I love how they pop through the coconut grass. It almost looks like an Easter egg hunt.

They are really turning out to be so festive!

The last and final step is adding the peep.

You can use bunny peeps or chick peeps, it doesn’t matter.

I found these cute pink bunny ones so I knew I had to use these!

Tips When Making Easter Peeps Dirt Cups

First, make the pudding and remember, sometimes pudding takes a few hours to firm up so be sure to time this right. Don’t want to wait? Use premade pudding cups.

Looking to crush those Oreos but not sure how? Add them to a paper or Ziplock bag and gently crush.

Another thing is not to make it too far ahead of time as you don’t want the toppings to get soggy.

Dirt Cup Variations You Need to Try

As I mentioned earlier, we have tried the standard dirt cup as well as the “beachy” dirt cup with vanilla pudding and golden Oreos.

Here are some other ones you need to try!

CARROT PATCH DIRT CUPS:

These have the same base with chocolate pudding and Oreo cookie crumbles but the top has a white chocolate dipped strawberry (the white chocolate is dyed orange) and it looks like a carrot.

FLOWER POT PUDDING DIRT CUPS:

This one also has the same base with chocolate pudding and Oreo cookie crumbles but then it has a large marshmallow cut to look like a flower with some sugar sprinkles on the petals.

GRAVEYARD DIRT CUPS:

Dye your vanilla pudding orange and purple and layer your Oreo cookie crumbles in the glass. Add a Milano cookie with some gel “RIP” writing on it. Lastly, add some bone sprinkles to complete the look.

CHRISTMAS DIRT CUPS:

Layer vanilla pudding and Golden Oreos in a cup. Add some Christmas sprinkles and a Little Debbie Christmas Cake on top.

Questions About Peeps Dirt Cups

Can You Make Them Ahead of Time?
Yes, you can! However, I recommend only making the pudding ahead of time. You can also make the green shredded coconut ahead of time and put both in an airtight container. Put it all together on the day that you will eat it.

Can You Use Other Peeps?
Yes! I just like the bunny ones but there are also the chicks too. They all come in tons of different colors and flavors.

Which Peeps Flavors Go Best with this Recipe?
Well, according to their website there are over 100 different types of Peeps. So I would recommend a standard Peep, Chocolate Pudding Peep, S’mores Peep… although the Donut Shop Coffee Peep, Maple Brown Sugar Peep and Orange Crème Peep sound pretty good! This is all entirely up to you!
