Hello and welcome to my March 2020 Blog Progress and Income Report! I cannot believe this is my fourth one.
Typically, the first few months of the year (also known as Q1) is the slowest blogging months of the year because, after all the hype throughout the holidays, everyone takes a break.
Especially now with COVID going around, it’s taken a big hit on many blogs (views are down, advertisers aren’t paying, etc…)
However, I’ve been lucky and things have trended upwards… although I know it won’t last forever.
If you are new to my income reports, read below to learn more about blogging income reports and why I am so willing to share how much I make.
What is a blogging income report?
A blogging income report is where bloggers break down how much money they made for the month, how much traffic they got along with goals for the next month.
Why am I writing an income report?
I am writing an income report to show you that earning money can be possible with a blog. Until a few years ago I didn’t even realize blogging could make you money. Then, I stumbled across a blog that talked about income reports and my world changed.
Remember that blogging is typically not a “get rich quick” scheme. It is a slow process that takes a lot of time and effort.
Be sure to pay attention to what you have to say to your reader. What will their take-away be after reading your blog? Does your content provide value?
Those questions are what’s most important.
Please keep in mind that I didn’t start this blog to make money and that is still not my main focus. My main focus is to give my readers quality content that can help them in their everyday lives.
However, it helps pay for gas, a hair cut here and there, and supports my wine and oily habits 😉 Trust me, anyone can do this!
Let’s be honest.. the extra money is definitely nice.
Are you thinking about starting a blog?
Starting a self-hosting blog is actually incredibly easy! I talk all about it in this blog post here and it only costs $3.95/month if you click here! Seriously, it’s been one of the best decisions of my life.

Breakdown of March 2020 Blog Income Report:
(The income I am reporting on has been earned and deposited into my bank account. Most of the money I made was made earlier in the year but took time to be deposited into the bank. A lot of the income I made in March will not be deposited into my bank account until 60-90 days later.)

As I mentioned last month, I got accepted into Mediavine which is a full-service ad management company for content creators. It launched on Lifestyle With Leah on March 4th and the results have been amazing!
Another awesome thing that happened was my Instagram exploded. I went from about 16,000 followers to over 220,000 in a month. The reason was because of these Instagram Story Templates that I created. These free templates get put onto Instagram stories and then shared with their friends and so on and so forth. These stories spread so much I was getting thousands of shares and likes a day.
However, the one big issue I had in March was that my site crashed because of all the traffic my Instagram was getting. My new Instagram followers were clicking on links to view my site which is how that ended up happening.
Something I definitely did not predict.
Because of this, I had to switch hosting sites and that alone was a pain in the butt. Both hosting sites had messed up a few things on the backend of my site that I personally had to fix because they had no idea what was going on. Let me tell you… I feel like I can be a website developer now (kidding… sort of).
This led my site to not working for almost two weeks! Even then, I still had over 350,000 blog views. Except the problem was that the switch messed up my Mediavine ads so I should’ve gotten paid a lot more but it’s still a good number so I can’t complain!
You won’t see my Mediavine payment until June because that’s when it goes into my bank account.
I also get a ton of traffic from Pinterest. Even though my Pinterest monthly viewers went down, my follow rate went up by over 3,000!
My Pinterest strategy is pretty simple. I make sure to manually pin at least 5x a day and use Tailwind to manage my Pinterest schedule and manually pin 5x a day instead of having to manually pin all day long. However, their algorithms have changed and things are starting to slow down.
Still… using Tailwind has been a lifesaver. It is a Pinterest scheduler app that has saved me hours of work every month. it also tracks the best time for engagement with your audience.

My Goals for April
I definitely do not expect to keep up with 223,000 Instagram followers. So many of those came during the time my stories went viral which is why I would expect to definitely lose a fair amount.
I am absolutely ok with that. I want followers who are interested in what I have to say in my stories and what I write in my posts.
- Write 1 blog post a week now that my site is back up and running.
I hope you enjoyed reading my March 2020 blogging income report!
