Some days my kids just need a quick meal or snack that I know everyone is actually going to eat, and these homemade pizza pockets are exactly that.

They are warm, cheesy, super easy to make, and perfect for lunch, an afternoon snack, or game day!

The best part is that you can completely customize them. We kept ours simple with turkey pepperoni and cheese, but you can easily switch up the fillings based on what your family likes or whatever you have sitting in the fridge.

Serve them with warm marinara sauce for dipping and they disappear FAST!

Easy Homemade Pizza Pockets for a Quick Snack

I am always looking for easy snack ideas that feel a little more filling than grabbing another bag of chips from the pantry.

These pizza pockets are basically a homemade version of one of a favorite freezer snack, except they are so simple to throw together yourself.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 can Pillsbury pizza dough
  • Turkey Pepperoni
  • Fresh mozzarella pearls
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • Shredded Parmesan
  • Rao’s pizza sauce (dipping)

In our house, the dipping sauce is pretty much required!

How to Make Homemade Pizza Pockets

Preheat oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper (spray with oil).

Roll the pizza dough to make it flatter and cut it in half lengthwise and then lay one half of the dough over an ice cube tray and spread it out to cover the ice cube.

Fill each pocket with 1 slice of pepperoni and some mozzarella pearls.

Place the other half of the dough over the top and spread it out completely.

Use a rolling pin to push down the dough.

Carefully flip the dough onto your baking sheet and remove the ice tray. This part is super important because you don’t want the tray melted in the oven!!

Poke the top of each pocket with a toothpick and then brush melted butter on top of the dough and sprinkle garlic powder and died basil.

Bake for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Add a sprinkle of shredded Parmesan on top and serve with pizza sauce!

Let them cool for a few minutes before serving because that cheese gets HOT!

How to Make Homemade Pizza Pockets Your Kids Will Love

One of my favorite things about this homemade pizza pocket recipe is how easy it is to change it up.

You could make a few different versions at once and let everyone choose their favorite.

Try filling them with:

  • Pepperoni and mozzarella
  • Sausage and cheese
  • Ham and cheese
  • Chicken and mozzarella
  • Bell peppers and cheese
  • Mushrooms and cheese
  • Just cheese for picky eaters

You could even let the kids help make their own. Put all the toppings out on the counter and let everyone choose what goes inside their pizza pocket.

These are also great for lunch or an easy dinner. Make a batch ahead of time, refrigerate the leftovers, and warm them up in the air fryer or oven when you need something quick.

These easy homemade pizza pockets check all the boxes for me. Simple ingredients, very little prep, and completely kid-approved.

Enjoy!
