Before we dive into castor oil, can I vent to you about my day yesterday?
Here it goes…
I wake up yesterday morning around 5:15 AM already stressed out because it was icing pretty bad. Pretty bad as in I could hear it from inside the house. Rosie went to bed late Wednesday so I let her sleep in a bit while I got ready for work and got Luna ready for daycare. Then Rosie got up and I got her ready. Here’s the thing… I love winter and I love snow but I hate having to bundle the girls up with jackets and mittens and hats. SO MUCH CLOTHING. Then once I get them in the car I make sure to take off their puffy jackets (watch this video on why I refuse to let my girls wear puffy jackets in the car).
Off to daycare in the icy weather, I go.
Ten minutes of me being on the road driving 20 miles an hour, I see brake lights. Of course, there was an accident. So, I turn around to go the long way to their daycare. What normally takes me ten minutes to drive there took me almost a freaking hour. Finally got to work and was able to unwind a bit.
It was literally pouring down ice and snow for hours.
We finally close the building down around noon and I was contemplating getting the girls from school or leaving them until after Rosie’s nap. I decided to wait until after nap so I began to drive down the road to go home and I could not make it up the hill. Like, I tried everything and nothing worked so I decided to reverse, turn around and go the other way home. It took me about 30 minutes and I finally got to my neighborhood.
Now, there are two ways to get to my house from my neighborhood so I decided to take the one with the smaller hill. The car would not budge up that hill. How freaking awkward has this day become? So, I reverse a second time, turn around and go down the hill to try the other way to my house. I didn’t make it up that hill either. The worst part? I could literally see my house but could not get to it.
What in the actual heck.
I was too nervous to park my car on the street and walk since cars were sliding all over the place. I was also incredibly hungry because I forgot to pack a lunch and cold since I forgot to put on appropriate shoes… think long pants with flats. Now let me tell you, flats do not work in ice, snow, and slush. My miserable self and pathetic car drive to Walmart just to pass the time before I could get the girls. I did a little bit of Christmas shopping, called my sister to vent and I bought myself some lunch. I sat in the car and listened to my favorite podcast. Once I was done eating I shopped around at Kohls for a bit. At this point, it was starting to rain and it was almost time to meet the hubby and get the girls.
Finally, around 2:45 PM we met up and got out of our cars to get the girls. Now, to end this perfectly wonderful day, the parking lot to get the girls were covered in slush and ice. As in, there were about 3 inches of wetness and my flats were under it all and super SOAKED. Gross.
So, here I go, sloshing around daycare with my wet flats and we got the girls.
We drove slowly but could tell the roads were much better than before. We made it up the hill with little to no issues and I was so happy to be home. I am literally laughing writing about it now. Yesterday? Not so funny.
Now, back to chit-chatting about castor oil.
I first fell upon castor oil by accident. I was googling, “natural remedies for eyelash growth” and castor oil was the first thing that popped up so I decided to dig deeper. The only thing I knew about castor oil was that it could cause early labor. So pregnant ladies, stay away!
Here is the scoop on castor oil.
- It is a natural moisturizer and helps promote hydration.
- According to this site, studies show it can reduce inflammation. I am all about reducing inflammation.
- It’s a great natural conditioner. Add a little mixture of jojoba oil and don’t forget the shower cap… these things can get messy. Side note: I use jojoba oil on my skin every night before bed. So good.

Why did I start googling, “natural remedies for eyelash growth?” Well, because I wanted healthier lashes – duh. However, after I had Luna, also I noticed that I was losing a ton of hair quickly… thank you postpartum hair loss! And I heard that castor oil can help with that. So, I have yet to seriously dive into castor oil for a natural conditioner but I that is my next plan. Right now, I have been using it on my eyelashes and have been for over a month. I wanted to try it out for that long before reviewing it on my blog.
Overall results?
Love it. Not sponsored, just seriously love it. I am obsessed with this certain product because it’s 100% organic castor oil with no fillers. It comes with an eyelash and eyebrow kit for easy application as well as a glass droplet. I put the glass droplet onto the eyelash brush and every other night I apply it to the top and bottom lashes after washing and moisturizing my face. Sometimes, I even put a few drops on my nails. The next morning when I wash my face and put on my mascara I can feel the difference. They feel smoother and healthier. This is a product I will always recommend and always use as a part of my nightly routine.
Ok, I’m off to do some serious early Black Friday Christmas Shopping!
Enjoy your weekend!
