This post contains a recipe on how to make Bailey’s Irish Cream hot chocolate bombs.
Hot Chocolate Bombs don’t have to be just for kids… am I right?
Let’s make them even more fun by adding a boozy twist to them!
I’m talking about Bailey’s Irish Cream Hot Chocolate Bombs.
Want to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early? Add one to your coffee and let me tell you… you’ll have a little pep in your step 😛
WHAT IS A HOT CHOCOLATE BOMB?
A hot chocolate bomb is a hollow hardened chocolate sphere with delicious toppings inside that typically consist of some kind of hot cocoa powder and other toppings inside.
It’s a great gift to give to friends and family as well as a gorgeous dessert to make for any party!
HOW TO MELT AND DRINK THEM
First, place the hot chocolate bomb inside a mug.
Then pour heated milk, water, or coffee over the top of the bomb slowly.
Soon you’ll see the chocolate start to melt and then all the toppings from inside the chocolate start to pour out.
Get a spoon, swirl it all around and drink it. SO GOOD.
WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THEM WITH
First, make sure you have the silicone molds which make the chocolate sphere.
I got mine from Amazon here and I found a few more here, here, and here!
You’ll also need a plate for melting chocolate, a cup of warm water, a spoon, a baking sheet, and a ziplock (or piping) bag.
WHAT INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED
First, you need two bags of melting chocolate. The regular chocolate is for the chocolate sphere and the white chocolate for the chocolaty swizzle on top.
You’ll also need 1 packet of hot cocoa mix, semi-sweet chocolate, and Bailey’s Irish Cream.
This amazing concoction goes inside the bomb and makes the drink extra chocolaty and sooooo good.

Lastly, you’ll need green and gold sprinkles. Perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration!
HOW TO MAKE BAILEY’S IRISH CREAM HOT CHOCOLATE BOMBS
First, melt chocolate wafers according to directions.
Using the silicone molds, add the chocolate to each mold and spread all over generously then place the molds in the fridge for 5-10 minutes until chocolate hardens.
Repeat by adding more chocolate and putting in the fridge again until chocolate hardens.
While chocolate hardens, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a bowl.
When melted, combine the melted chocolate chips with hot cocoa and Bailey’s Irish Cream until it comes out looking like thick pudding.
Take the molds out of the fridge and pop out the chocolate.
Warm a plate in the microwave for a minute then pick up one-half of a chocolate bomb and place it onto the warm plate for a few seconds until the sides start melting.
Fill that half of the chocolate bomb with 1 small scoop of the Bailey’s chocolate mix and add mini marshmallows.
Warm the plate in the microwave again then pick up the other half of the chocolate bomb and place onto the warm plate for a few seconds until the sides start melting.
Push the melted half of the chocolate bomb on top of the half that’s filled with toppings.
Next, don’t forget to decorate!
Heat up the white chocolate wafers and then pour into a ziplock bag (or piping bag)
Snip a tiny piece off the edge of the ziplock bag and swizzle the white chocolate all over the hot chocolate bombs.
Add green and gold sprinkles on top to finish off the look!
HOW TO SERVE BAILEY’S IRISH CREAM HOT CHOCOLATE BOMB
Get a cute mug. Glass mugs are always fun since you can see the bomb melt from all angles.
Tip: Get a wide mug. One that can hold a 2.5″ hot chocolate bomb.
Put the hot chocolate bomb on the bottom of the glass. Then pour heated milk, water, or coffee (coffee is my personal favorite for this recipe) into the mug slowly.
Once the bomb breaks, stir and add in more marshmallows and top it with whipped cream and sprinkle some chocolate shavings on top.
Enjoy!

My cocoa powder, 2 ounces Bailey Irish cream liquor, 1 Tbl spoon chocolate chips mix never thickened. I even put two packages of cocoa powder in
Oh shoot! Maybe next time add a bit more chocolate chips and a little less of the Irish cream?
