Although summer break has just started, they will be going back to school before we know it.
I know having a first grader and third grader next year is going to be so fun!
Time has flown by and I am definitely trying to slow this summer down and enjoy every minute.

I typically try to buy my kids a new one every 2 years so to me, it’s important to find the best backpack that fits them, is comfortable, and has enough space for what they need.

Finding the best backpacks for back to school takes some time because you need to consider several factors to ensure you select a backpack that meets your kids needs and preferences.
How to Find the Best Backpacks for Kids
Since different grades have different requirements, be sure to take that into consideration.
Elementary school kids will typically use a smaller and lighter backpack while high school and college kids will need a larger backpack with more compartments.
I typically like to look for backpacks with padded adjustable shoulder straps especially since my kids are so little.
This helps keep things comfortable, fit their bodies properly and distributes weight evenly.

Think about any additional after school activities that may require extra space or compartments.
When looking for the best back to school backpack, make sure you get one with high quality material (nylon, polyester, or canvas are great).
Also waterproof or water-resistant is a good choice.
I can tell you a few times when my kids water bottles would spill in their backpacks or when they would get caught in the rain running to my car after school… oops!
Don’t forget to check the quality of the zippers and seams! Double stitching is always a good idea.
Check out the compartments to make sure there is enough for your kids.
Typically, the more compartments, the better organized they will be (and don’t forget to look for water bottle holders on the sides of the backpack)
Unless they are my kids and use these additional compartments for Chapstick, rocks, erasers, gems, and anything else they may find on the school playground.
