She’s back! By “she” I mean my beautiful friend Allyson. I decided to take a break from my 12 Days of Holiday Gifts and have Allyson do a guest post on some awesome natural DIY products of hers!
The winter season brings so much joy, wonder, and magic!
It can also be a very busy time of year. From visiting family to Christmas shopping, and Holiday get-togethers, we are pulled in so many different directions. Making sure to take care of yourself can sometimes take a backseat, but pampering yourself doesn’t have to be hard!
So, I thought I would share a few of my DIY favorites to keep your skin glowing and hair perfect, even if you are short on time. Not only are these products easy to make, but they are also all natural and free of harsh chemicals.
As women, we really need to be aware of what we are using on our body. We use tons of products every day that are wreaking havoc on our hormones and our bodies. Using these easy DIY products infused with essential oils will not only prevent the use of chemical-filled products, but we can also benefit from the essential oils.
First is my all time favorite face scrub with used coffee grounds. That’s right, used coffee grounds from your morning k-cup.
Here is what you need to make your scrub:
– Used coffee grounds
– Vitamin E oil (you can also use fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, or almond oil)
– Frankincense Essential Oil
– Copaiba Essential Oil
– Lavender Essential Oil
– For acne prone skin you can add Cedarwood or Tea Tree Oil
After you empty your coffee grounds into a glass container (a small glass ball jar works great), put 6 drops of each essential oil into the coffee grounds, then add a small amount of vitamin e oil. Mix together and make sure it’s the right consistency (not too dry and not too soupy). I use this scrub about 2-3 times a week and my face feels amazing!

Next is every mama’s best friend… dry shampoo!! With the hustle and bustle of this time of year, well let’s face it any time of year as a mom, washing your hair every day can be hard. Here is a recipe for an all-natural dry shampoo that not only smells great but is great for your hair and health.
Combine a ¼ cup of arrowroot powder, and 6 drops of essential oil in a glass jar. My favorite oils for dry shampoo are 3 drops of lavender and 3 drops of cedarwood. Simply apply with an old makeup brush, work into your hair and you are ready to go!
*For darker hair use 2 tablespoons of arrowroot powder and 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
The last one I will share is dry scalp shampoo because I don’t know about you but my scalp get’s dry in the winter! All you need is Castile Soap and essential oil.
Mix together a ¼ cup of Castile Soap, 5 drops of lavender, and 5 drops of Rosemary. Store in a small glass mason jar and use when needed.
I keep this in my shower and use once a week to help keep my scalp and hair healthy.
I hope these easy DIY products help you pamper yourself just a bit this winter season. You deserve it!
*Most of the essential oils mentioned here come in the Premium Starter Kit! If you have any questions about anything please feel free to reach out, and I can get your all set up to start on your health and wellness journey.
