This post contains a recipe on how to make candy-filled chocolate Easter eggs!
“Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin’ down the bunny trail
Hippity hoppin’, Easter’s on its way.”
Ok, but for real though, why does Easter feel like it’s come so soon this year?
I feel like I was just wrapping presents for Christmas! and now I’m that girl you see at Target everyday shopping for last-minute Easter bag toys and candy for eggs.
One thing I did remember to do was make some adorable Easter-themed dessert like these candy-filled chocolate Easter eggs.
Make these cuties and watch your kid’s faces light up as they bite into the hollowed chocolate egg.
My kid had no idea they were stuffed with jelly beans, Cadbury mini eggs, and YumEart giggle candies.
To say they were excited is an understatement.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO MAKE CANDY-FILLED CHOCOLATE EASTER EGGS?
You’ll need silicone egg molds to make the hollowed chocolate egg part.
Amazon sells a ton of these and this is the one I got. You can also get ones with designs on them like these ones here and here.
You’ll also need either a plate or a skillet, a baking sheet, and a Ziplock or piping bag.
WHAT INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED
First, you need a bag of either white melting chocolate or an assortment of pastel-colored melting chocolates.
I made these super late at night and didn’t have any colored melting chocolates so I used white melting chocolates with some gel food coloring.

It’s much easier to use pastel-colored melting chocolates so you don’t stay up late mixing colors to get just the “right pastel pink.”
Next, you’ll need to decide what candies you want to fill the eggs with. I liked having a mix of jelly beans, YumEarth giggles (organic candy), and Cadbury mini eggs.
You could add different flavored jelly beans, sweet tarts, M&M and so much more!
Finally, figure out which sprinkles you’d like to decorate these eggs with. My girls love the rainbow ones so naturally, that’s what I chose.
HOW TO MAKE CANDY-FILLED CHOCOLATE EASTER EGGS
Grab your silicone molds, it’s time to get started!
Melt the chocolate according to the directions on the bag.
If doing an assortment of colors, melt one color at a time so the chocolate doesn’t harden back up too quickly.
Then, generously fill the molds and be sure to pay special attention to the sides.
Let the molds harden. Put them in the fridge if you want them to harden quickly.
After the chocolate firms up, add more to ensure there are no holes in the chocolate. Let it firm up again.
Once the chocolate is completely firm, gently take them out of the mold.
Heat up a skillet (or warm a plate in the microwave) and once it’s warm to the touch, place half of your hollowed egg (edge side down) and let the chocolate smooth out so you don’t get any jagged edges.
Then, add the candies to those half of the chocolate eggs.
Take the other half of the egg and flip it over to decorate the top.
Heat up white chocolate melts and pour into a Ziplock bag or piping bag. If using a Ziplock bag, snip off a tiny piece from the edge.
Swizzle the white chocolate all over the hollowed eggs.
Then take your sprinkles and immediately add to the swizzle chocolate!

Once the chocolate is hard and the sprinkles are secure, repeat the process of smoothing down the edges by using the skillet or hot plate.
When the sides get a bit melted, quickly place on top of the half that’s filled with candy and press down gently.
This will create a seal to form the hollowed chocolate egg.
Let them sit for a few minutes before enjoying!.
